Tales from the Road!
                     The Parties!
                                  The Fights!
                                              What Really Happened!

The story begins in the Texas music scene of the late 1960s. Dave describes jam sessions and early gigs with musicians from ZZ Top and the 13th Floor Elevators.

The main characters then start coming together in an interesting series of events. The original singer/writer was fired. For a brief time there was a revolving door of second guitarists. The band changed its name twice and then changed back again.

By the end of 1969, the band's final lineup was in place and they recorded the first Dead Man album. But the fun was only just beginning. The roller coaster reached some tremendous highs, but the ride eventually dipped lower and lower, hitting bottom by the end of 1970.

This book details the funny, the scary, the risky, and the just plain weird things that went on during this time.

From Dave's Introduction

As I've been answering email to the Josefus website over the past few years, I realized how many amazing things happened along the way during our year and a half long journey.

As far as we were concerned, we were just another band hoping to make it in the world of rock music; driving for hours to and from gigs and trying to create our own sound. Josefus played clubs and major concerts, but we also played in parks and parking lots. We loved to move people with our music.

But time has put a different perspective on Josefus. Years after we broke up, bootleg editions of our album began appearing in Europe. Two American re-issues came out in the 90s, and the band's mystique seems to have grown larger as the years have passed.

People write to us from all over the world. Many have looked back at Josefus and asked why real success eluded us. This book will provide a bit of insight into that question.
